the house that ruth built

This past Monday we had the opportunity of a lifetime. Clint's dad was in town and miraculously bargained his way into three tickets to a Yankees vs. Orioles game. But these weren't any ordinary tickets. We were six rows back, just off of home plate on the third base line. It was an amazing to be that close, to hear the ball hit the catcher's glove after each pitch, and to see how big (and small) some of the players are. A-Rod is huge, Jeter's pretty skinny, and those pitches come really fast. On top of this, a classmate of Clint's from Stanford (Jeremy Guthrie) was pitching for the Orioles that night and held the Yankees to no hits through five innings (and beaned a few guys in the process). It's too bad they are tearing the old stadium down (26 home games left), with all of its tradition and history. It's a magical place on a summer night, especially when you're in ridiculous seats. A true NY highlight. Thank you, Joel. Come see us again during basketball season, ok?

Amazing to be so close
