10/17 - 10/20 colombo / kuala lumpur / singapore

From the Maldives we had an overnight stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka which was weird but cool, and then a long flight to Kuala Lumpur. Home of the Petronas Towers (i.e. "Entrapment" with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones), KL is a Singapore look-alike, but more charm and warmth. The country is green, lush, and tropical and Kuala Lumpur is clean, modern, and organized. It is a shopper’s paradise so we spent a lot of time wondering the malls —the abundance of choice is astounding and American culture is all the rage. American music can be heard everywhere, and when you look at the teenagers, it’s almost as if you were in L.A. We also caught a movie there (love assigned seating) and played some tennis right in the city (reminded of us of our days playing in Boston Common - how we miss that place). In short we loved Malaysia, and we were sad to leave it for Singapore, though we enjoyed our time there, too (Big Brother, notwithstanding). Our cab drivers in both places were among the most intelligent, well-read individuals we've met on our travels. The cab drivers! What a great corner of the world.

Tennis courts where we played a grueling match
We're still not finished, but Clint is up one set, and I'm winning the second...
Shops galore
Wow, those towers are tall

What a fabulous adventure :) I'm glad you got to do Sing and M'sia -obviously two of my favourites. Are you going to Beijing? If so, you must use my driver. His name is Peter and is probably the only cab driver in Beijing who speaks English (well enough to get you around). He is also honest and reliable. His number is 139 1001 1051. Drop my name and you'll have to fight him to pay him.
Depending on how long you are there for I can also hook you up with the chapel -which is a bit tricky to find- and friends/recommendations. I wish everyone could do China because it's incredible. You'll have a great time there! Travel safe.
