Nowhere captures summer for me quite like the Midwest--BBQs, homemade ice cream, swimming, heat, humidity, and lots of fireworks on the 4th of July. Although a bit ambitious, I couldn't resist taking my threesome for an extended stay to see my family. My sister and her family were kind enough to host us for a week in Iowa and my parents for another week in Minnesota over the Fourth of July (along with my brothers and their families). It was a lot of work to travel alone with a 4-month-old, 2-year-old, and 4-year-old, but they are troopers and it was so memorable.

The four of us as we set off on our adventure that included sitting on the runway for ~40 min with no AC; thankfully we survived with the help of lollipops

I love Nauvoo. So much history and incredible to see the changes from my first visit as a 12-year-old
These cousins are the best--tea parties, zoo, children's museum, and time in the creek with my little ones; no trip to Iowa would not be complete without visiting the John Deere Museum

Cousin tables--overheard such funny conversations; homemade ice cream followed by the annual Hassell family firework display--it never disappoints

Grandpa is always a hit

Such great friendships made and re-made
