Valentine's Day typically is not too eventful in our house, and we had no plans for this one to be any different. Clint has been particularly busy at work--in fact, he was double-booked with meetings that day and had to cancel a day-trip to Cleveland. This proved providential. I started having some mild contractions that morning. That afternoon I went to the hospital to get checked for peace of mind. Four hours later, we welcomed Samuel Clinton Peterson into our family! We are thrilled with his arrival. A few highlights from his first week--meeting his big sister the morning after he was born, opening his mouth twice as big as seems possible when he yawns, lots of eating and sleeping, and Clint saying, "our apartment feels really small" after we arrived home. We love the brief newborn period.
The week finished with a celebration of Josie's 2nd birthday. She is proving to be a wonderful big sister and especially loves to help change Sam's diapers and share her toys with him. Recent Josie highlights include using the toilet (almost 100% of the time), counting, pointing out letters (often correctly), singing any song she knows, and non-stop chattering. We are really enjoying seeing the two kids "interact" and are looking forward to watching them grow up together.

Samuel Clinton Peterson, born 2/14/11 @ 7:38pm, 7 lbs 7 oz, 19.25 in. Here he is just minutes old.
