alex and brooke visit the big apple

We had a special treat in September--my brother, Alex, and his wife, Brooke, visited us. It was perfect fall weather while they were here--a nice relief from the heat of Phoenix for them! We took in a lot of sites including Chinatown, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the Met, and the MoMA. Kristy and Joel Williams made the trip from Boston for part of the weekend. The visit gave us an excuse to try a few new restaurants. Such a great visit.
Van Gogh's self portrait at the Met
 Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn
Dinner at Tao, where coincidentally, Sarah Palin and company ate the following evening

The morning they left, there were snipers on our roof and across the street at the Sheraton, which was hosting Bill Clinton's Global Initiative Conference. We don't know who all of the security was for, but with all of the armored vehicles, police, and secret service, you'd think all of the leaders of the Free World were in there. Fortress America!
